Becoming Happy Through Music
From
growing up in Dallas, TX I was exposed at an early age to Country music and absolutely
fell in love with it. When I say Country I don’t mean like the old time stuff,
I mean Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and many more. The
thing I like about Country music is that the message of the song always has a
way of speaking to me and it’s usually one I can easily relate to. Take “The
One Who Got Away” by Jake Owen for example. The song is pretty much about a guy
who falls in love with a girl and regrets letting her go after she broke his
heart. Even though I can’t exactly relate to that, I know what it’s like to
lose a close friend and let me be the one to tell you it isn’t enjoyable at all.
It’s hard for me to stop thinking about it and sometimes I feel like I need
some kind of relief and that’s what I find in the music. The effects of losing
a close friendship are almost equivalent to heartbreak in my opinion. I
recently lost a close friendship with a friend and it’s been pretty tough on me
as well as my mind. Back to the song though, I really enjoy the rhythm because
the artist keeps it interesting with a fast beat. Defiantly a song to sing along
to! It came out back in 2011; however, I just recently found it and now I
listen to it all the time. Even though the message is sad and depressing, it
helps to relate to it because then you realize you aren’t the only one out
there who’s hurting. I’ve been going through a lot lately; whether it’s with my
grandmother who just found out she has cancer or worrying about how one of my
friendships is going to turn out. Somehow Country music can always cheer me up
and put me in a little happy place so to speak. Country music in my opinion is
great to listen to when you’re happy, sad, mad, or depressed and for me; it
helps me get through the day a little bit stronger. However, in general, I love
Country music and even if a lot of my friends can’t stand it, I’m not afraid to
admit my passion for this genre. As my taste in music keeps varying from time
to time, I can guarantee my love for Country will never change.
